Meet Frank
A longtime Lanark Highlands resident, business leader, and community volunteer committed to protecting what we love and planning for what we need.
Rooted in Lanark Highlands
Frank and his wife Taina have shared a connection to Flower Round Lake and the Lanark Highlands for more than four decades. Taina first came to the family cottage on Flower Round Lake as a child, and together they spent many summers enjoying the lakes, forests, and close-knit community that make this area so special.
Fifteen years ago, Frank and Taina made the decision to call Flower Round Lake their permanent home. Their love of the outdoors and wilderness made the choice an easy one. Today, their three children and four grandchildren have also grown to appreciate and cherish the beauty and lifestyle that Lanark Highlands offers.
From Entrepreneur to Community Advocate
Frank holds a degree in Geography and spent his entire professional career working in map production and mapping information technology.
In 1989, Frank founded QSP Geographics Inc. in the basement of his home. Over the years, the company grew to employ nearly 90 people, with offices in both Toronto and Ottawa. As mapping technology evolved, Frank helped guide QSP into the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), becoming an early leader in the field.
His work focused on helping organizations better understand geography, data, and location intelligence—tools that support better planning and smarter decision-making.
Even in retirement, Frank continues to apply his expertise locally. In his spare time, he has developed demographic and physical geography datasets for Lanark Highlands and Lanark County, sharing this information with organizations such as the Township, the Highlands North Network (HNN), and other community groups to help inform community planning.
A Lifelong Commitment to Staying Active
Frank has been a competitive swimmer for most of his life and continues to compete at the Masters level. In 2026, he represented Lanark Highlands at both the Ontario Masters Swimming Championships and the Speedo Canadian Masters Swimming Championships, earning multiple gold and silver medals in his age group and contributing to a Canadian record-breaking relay team.
Frank is a strong believer in the philosophy that "sport is for life." He encourages people of all ages and abilities to stay active, engaged, and connected through recreation and sport, recognizing the important role physical activity plays in supporting physical, mental, and social health.
