Seasonal Residents
You Do Have A Voice, You Do Have A Vote
Seasonal residents often contribute substantially to the local tax base and economy but may have different priorities than permanent residents. Municipal elections provide an opportunity to:
Vote for candidates who understand seasonal resident concerns.
Participate in public meetings and consultations.
Help shape the future of the community.
Many seasonal property owners are attracted by lakes, forests, trails, and rural character. Municipal election decisions can influence:
Protection of lakes and natural areas
Rural road maintenance
Broadband expansion
Recreation opportunities
Financial management and tax levels
A municipal election determines who will make the decisions that affect your taxes, services, property rights, environment, and the long-term character of the community where you spend your recreational time and invest your property dollars. For seasonal residents, it is often the most important election affecting day-to-day ownership and enjoyment of your seasonal property.

Why does Frank understand this issue?
Frank met his wife Taina 44 years ago. She came to the family cottage on Flower Round Lake (Flower Lake) from the age of 1. Frank and Taina summered at Flower Lake until 15 years ago, when they decided to call Flower Lake and the Lanark Highlands their permanent home. Frank and Taina’s love of the outdoors and wilderness made this a very easy decision. Their 3 children and 4 grandchildren have also grown to love this special area.
As a past seasonal property owner and now a permanent resident, Frank understands the priorities of both groups, and promises to help guide the Township to maintain and improve the opportunities that Lanark Highlands can offer all seasonal and permanent residents.
